About Hummingbirds:
Hummingbirds are one of the smallest birds, some weighing less than a penny. They are attracted by bright colors when feeding, but nests are normally natural in colors. A hummingbird will house a bird and two eggs. Their humming sound is created from their beating wings. They hover in mid-air rapidly flapping their wings, typically around 50 times per second. Hummingbirds have the highest metabolism of any homeothermic animal. To conserve energy, when food is scarce, and nightly when not foraging, they go into torpor, a state similar to hibernation, slowing their metabolic rate to 1/15th of its normal rate. Their eggs are very small, approximately the size of a tic-tac, and incubation lasts between 14 to 23 days. This is an incredible bird, and they certainly are amazing to watch.

Instructions:
Simply hang the hummingbird house outside (leather lanyard included) in early spring. Place the house under an eve or anywhere that is out of the rain, wind and sun (and where you can watch them). You can leave a few pieces of lint nearby, but not inside the house. There is no guarantee a hummingbird will use the house the first year (there are no guarantees with any birdhouse), but if they do build a nest, hatch-lings return the next year. Take it down during the winter months (it makes a great ornament!) and clean out using tweezers. (Instructions will come with your hummingbird house). Good luck!
