Bike Ride along Danube, Austria
I got out of the river boat in the early morning and started a twelve-mile journey down the Danube to the town of Melk. During the journey I passed through several little sleepy towns which I photographed as I rode the bike. I nearly killed myself doing this because the bike I was using had both pedal brakes and hand brakes—a dangerous combination when you are trying to balance yourself and take a photograph at the same time!
I stopped along the way and ate the lunch that my river boat crew had prepared for me. Older women wearing the traditional German hats walked the hilly streets of these quaint villages. I imagined my relatives, seeing many similarities in their sturdy statures.
